How I Roll. . .

Well, it's been another exciting week and a quiet weekend. Sorry I didn't write earlier; it's amazing how a whole week can just slip by!

This week I changed a whole lot, and Mom and Dad are still trying to catch up. I talk all the time now, whether it's little coos and whimpers or nice LOUD yells. It doesn't matter if I'm happy, sad, bored, or tired: I just like to hear what my voice can do, at all volumes and pitches.

On Saturday morning, I decided it was finally time to ease Mom and Dad's minds and show them that I do know how to roll over. I started rolling on Saturday morning and pretty much haven't stopped since! This leads to some new challenges for Mom and Dad; like, last night they put me to bed in the co-sleeper, but I wasn't sleepy yet, so I kept rolling over in there and popping my head up. Since I'm also getting bigger, there's not too much room in there, so I couldn't roll back over, and that didn't make me happy at all! That'll teach them to put me to bed before I'm ready to go.

The rolling over is a little problematic with the crib, too. Mom and Dad put me in there in the morning so they can shower, but the past two days they've heard me crying over the monitor and come in to find I have an arm or a leg stuck through the slats! Looks like they'll have to get me one of those mesh breathable bumpers (since I also like to sleep with my face pressed up against the side of the crib).

I'm also getting better at grabbing and manipulating things, and I've started to figure out that everything's a toy, especially the stuff Mom and Dad are always playing with. Mom and Dad were taking turns taking pictures with me, and I decided *I* wanted to have a go with the camera:

So most of the time now I like lying on my space mat, either face up or face down, and hanging out in my jumper. I can spend a half hour in there, just dancing around to music and happily chewing on the ropes. Dad can't believe how I can jump and spin around and almost control where I'm going. Looks like I'm going to have the walking thing figured out pretty soon!

This weekend was pretty quiet, since we needed to cower in our air-conditioned bedroom. We did try some new food for me: fresh peas from the farmer's market. I wasn't quite ready for something with a flavor, but I still like eating from a spoon, and I really like drinking from a cup. The oatmeal cereal is great, but I think I'll skip the greens for a while!

On Father's Day we had a quiet day at home. We spent some time outside in the morning, but most of the day we just hung out together and Mom and Dad watched me roll over and half-crawl around. I've got the back half of the crawling worked out, but my arms won't cooperate, so I just scoot along on my face. Mom and Dad aren't thrilled with that arrangement, but it works for short distances on a soft surface.

Can't wait to fly on a plane again to visit my family in Tennessee! I'm meeting my Aunts for the first time, and going to my Aunt Eve's wedding, and I get to meet my cousin Isa, too!

Another Busy Weekend. . .

I know we're only halfway through the weekend, but we have such great pictures from the last few days that it seemed like we needed an update. As you can see up top, there, Mom and Dad are still taking pictures they can use as blackmail when I'm older.

Yesterday was a long and busy day, but we had so much fun! In the morning, we went and picked up a high chair for me, and then Mom and Dad took me to the lake again. We didn't stay very long because I didn't want to eat outside, but I still got to stand in the water, and that was awesome. Today, Mom and Dad are going to let me get all the way in the water -- they got me a floaty-thing so I can get in.

Then in the evening we went to a housewarming party for Rachael and Scott. Their house is very nice, especially their backyard. There's lots of soft grass, and I got to play with some other kids! I love meeting new people and I've got nothing but smiles for everyone (at least until my teeth start hurting, but that's always late at night). Here's a picture that's got to go in my modeling portfolio. It's me and my new friend, Sophie:

I'll let you know how today goes, and hopefully soon Dad will upload all the videos he has. Oh, one more thing -- Dad says that when I'm really asleep, I'm poseable, whatever that means:

Growing Up is Hard . . .

Well, it's the end of another busy week. This week, the teething really started to get me down. I still don't have any teeth poking through yet, but I can feel them trying, and it hurts! The coldest teething toys don't stay cold nearly as long as I want them to. The first two nights this week, I woke up at 4 a.m. because they hurt, and then I realized I was REALLY HUNGRY! Mom and Dad had a couple of zombie days before I got back into my bed-at-nine, up-at-six routine.

But there are some good trade-offs to getting older. For example, I can sit up for almost a minute at a time now! In this picture, my sittin' up skills are enhanced by the awesome pajamas I got from cousin Isabel.

I'm also getting more and more interested in the world around me. I used to hate mirrors, but now I can stare and stare at them, smiling and making faces. I've even figured out that when Mom holds me up to the big mirror, that's her reflection, too! I also used to hate having toys hanging in my face when I was in my bouncer or car seat, but now I can't get enough of them. It's a good chance to practice my grabbing skills when Mom or Dad's face, hair, and glasses aren't around.

Mom and Dad are still waiting for me to roll over. I know how to do it, but there's usually no reason to! Still, they want me to practice every day, so I go along with it. I'm just waiting 'til I can stand and walk. All of that playing and learning means even more napping, so I can assimilate the information and be ready to use it later. Sometimes, you've just got to settle into the Boppy with a blankie and take a rest, man.

Rub-a-dub-dub.

Well, it's been a pretty exciting week in the Nite household, yet again. Of course, since we decided to go to the lake every weekend, this weekend was all gloomy and rainy and cold! It started getting chilly on Friday night, when Mom and Dad took me to my first baseball game. It was so chilly that we didn't get to stay long, just long enough to take some pictures of me in my overalls.

So we stuck close to home for the rest of the weekend. Saturday, our neighbors Charlie and Carin came over to play games with Mom and Dad. Carin's going to have a baby, like, now, so they passed the time playing board games. I hung out with Lila, who is three. She kept wanting to tickle me, and sit in the chair with me -- do I smell a crush?

Then last night we tried food for the very first time! I pretty quickly understood what the spoon was for, and that it had delicious cereal on it. I even was able to grab the handle of the cup Mom handed me and got a few sips of milk! Of course, a couple hours after the eating most of it came back up. Maybe my mouth and hands are ready to eat, but my tummy's not quite there yet.

Before bed last night, I got to take another bath in the big-people tub, but with Dad this time. Dad held me up and let me splash all over the place, and I didn't like it one bit.

Okay, maybe a little bit.

Nature Boy!

Wow, what a great weekend we just had! We were plenty busy, but still had a whole lot of fun. For starters, on Saturday we took delivery of our new piano! Well, it's not a new piano -- it's actually really old, and will need some love before it's ready to play. But Mom and Dad let me bang on the keys a little, and I can't wait until we can all play it!

Then we went to a hippie baby shower. Since the hippie parade on May Day was so much fun, I was expecting to have a good time, and I did. We all sat in a circle out in the middle of a park, and we all thought good thoughts for the mom and her baby. Mom and Dad got to tell her that being a parent is way more fun and way easier than people were telling her. Dad told her that it's not so much a change in life as a discovery of a new purpose. That made her feel better, and I'm glad Dad knows that I'm his purpose now! We were out of the house for almost ten hours, and I only cried for about five minutes right before I went to bed. Mom and Dad can't believe what a mellow baby I am! I even enjoyed getting passed around so all the hippie ladies could hold me.

On Sunday we spent two whole hours at the beach! I got to stand in the water at the edge of the lake, and Mom and Dad took turns holding me so I could feel the wind blow. Then Mom fed me inside of my little cabana, and I went to sleep in there after watching the top of it blow in the breeze for a while. Mom and Dad both got a little sunburned -- maybe they should get a little cabana like mine!

When we got home, we all took a nap together, which was wonderful. I'm glad that Mom and Dad still appreciate a good nap every now and again.

Then Sunday night we had Dylan and Elaina over for dinner. We ate outside, then we went downstairs and watched a movie. I got a little cranky toward the end of the night, but only because I'm pretty sure I'm going to get some teeth in the next couple of weeks. I'm not entirely sure they're worth the trouble. Maybe I'll change my mind when I can start eating real food.

I'm still trying to post some new videos to Youtube -- they've changed everything around and made it hard to upload a lot of videos at a time, and Mom and Dad have a *ton* to upload. Hopefully we'll get that done soon.
